• The Franciscan Guest House at St. Lawrence
    Everyone who enters our doors is an honored guest!

    The Franciscan Guest House at St. Lawrence is a former convent, situated in central city, Buffalo, New York. It is available to any college’s or high school’s or Christian denomination’s small group for spiritual programs, retreats, and overnight accommodations, especially for those who plan service projects in a city milieu. Twelve to fifteen guests would be the optimum number who can benefit from the intimate, community-building setting. Individuals or couples are also welcome to stay with us.  

    The facilities include twelve small rooms on the upper floor, one of which is occupied by a resident religious. Of the eleven other rooms, two have bunk beds, so there is sleeping for thirteen people. All of these rooms have sinks, and doors with individual locks. Each guest will be provided with his/her own key. Those who have a room with a bed will be provided with bedding. It is recommended that additional guests bring sleeping bags.  

    Also on the upper floor are a shower room with four stalls and a bathroom with four stalls. Each overnight guest will be provided with one bath towel, one hand towel, and one washcloth to use.  

    The ground floor has a working kitchen and small eating area, a dining room seating eight, and a larger meeting room seating 10-12 people. Guests are expected to provide their own food and cook their own meals. This floor also has a small living room area where guests can sleep or relax, and a small, intimate chapel for services, private meditation, and spiritual reading. The ground floor also houses a small clinic at one end, a counselor’s office at the other end, and a small bathroom.  

    For groups planning inner city service projects, the Guest House has in-house projects. The basement houses the parish Food Pantry and Thrift Shop. Our outreach coordinator and volunteers can always use extra hands to pack food bags and sort clothing.  

    Also in the basement is a laundry room with a washer and dryer which house guests can use in the evening and on weekends.  

    In warm weather, guests can enjoy a small, awning covered outdoor eating area which overlooks a tiny peaceful garden.

    The Guest House is steps away from St. Lawrence Church and parish hall, both of which are accessible to persons with disabilities. Our current Mass schedule is as follows- Saturday Masses are at 4:30 PM and 10:00 PM, Sunday Mass is at 10:00 AM.  

    All fees are on a donation basis. Suggested fees are: $5.00 per person per day; $15.00 per person for an overnight; $25.00 per person for Friday through Sunday; and $50.00 per person for a week. Again, all payment is by donation, and we accept whatever you can afford.
